Step 8: Hire employees
Depending on the type of business that you are developing, this may (or may not) be an important step for you to take at this point.
Many small businesses are run entirely by their owners; however if you are working in an industry that demands that you have help, ensure that you take the time to hire qualified staff members.
Furthermore, make sure that you are keenly aware of the local, state, and Federal laws and regulations that must be followed when hiring employees. One false step in this arena can get you into some very hot water! So, learn the laws, and follow them to the letter to avoid any trouble in this important area.
Step 9: Begin marketing efforts
Start marketing your business in accordance with your marketing strategy (located within your business plan). Now is the time to start attending industry conferences, calling on potential customers, and advertising online and in your local community.
Be sure to pass out your business cards and brochures whenever it is appropriate, and don’t forget to let your friends, family, and business associates know about your brand new undertaking!
Step 10: Celebrate!
You are now officially “open for business,” so celebrate your wonderful accomplishment by having a party! Be sure to invite all of your potential customers, associates, and friends and family (but be sure to keep it “professional”). Now is the time to let everyone know how much you appreciated their kindness and patience with you during this intense process. Furthermore, it is a chance for you to establish new relationships and business contacts. After the party ends, be sure to continue to contribute to your community by periodically hosting or sponsoring local charitable events.
Whatever you do, make sure that you are making positive contributions that support your industry and community-at-large. Sooner or later, your good deeds will result in business referrals and new opportunities for you and your growing business.
The road to entrepreneurship is different for everyone. It can be a bumpy road, or it can be tree-lined street that leads to incredible amounts of personal and professional satisfaction. The best part is that the path that you take from this point forward is entirely up to you! No matter what happens, always remember to remain focused, determined and humble. If you do, we can almost guarantee that you will reach your final destination with ease.
We hope that you found this checklist helpful, and wish you the very best in your new business venture!
